Frequently Asked Questions

Although a fine needle is used to inject the hyaluronic gel, some mild discomfort during the treatment may be experienced. The products we use contain a mild anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort, with your comfort being our top priority. Some mild tenderness may be experienced after treatment but settling within hours.
Dermal filler is made of Hyaluronic acid which is a substance naturally produced in our bodies, and which breaks down over time. Hyaluronic is essential for transferring nutrients in the bloodstream to the cells of the skin, along with hydrating, plumping, and adding volume to our skin. The injecting of hyaluronic acid supports tissue and facial structures that may have lost volume, and elasticity. The product helps to bring hydration to the skin surface, supporting a fresh appearance and moisturised supple skin.
Depending on the individual and areas being treated, result will usually last 6 – 12 months. However, you can have treatments when you and your Aesthetic Practitioner feel it is necessary.
Some treatment areas may swell for a short period of time, and product can take a few days to settle. Once swelling has gone and product has settled, optimum results will be seen. However, results can be seen immediately.
It is completely normal to experience swelling, redness, or bruising immediately following treatment, and to be expected. The degree of swelling and bruising will differ from person to person, with some people experiencing very little, while other may experientable noticeable swelling. Should you wish, small bruises may be covered using concealer. Any bruising or effects will subside within 7-10 days and any swelling effects within a few days. Using a cold compress wrapped in a towel can help with swelling, and we recommend Arnica cream to help with bruising. During your consultation any potential side effects will be discussed and reduced by sharing your medical history.
Client care, comfort and safety are of the utmost importance. FDA approval supports the safety of dermal fillers, and our Aesthetic Practitioners apply their knowledge and experience to provide this treatment safely and expertly. There are risks with all injections and semi-permeant implants. Your aesthetic practitioner will talk through risk during your consultation. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you wish. Your comfort and understanding and informed decisions are our priority. While satisfied and happy result are experienced at Facial Rejuvenation Aesthetics, if you do not achieve the outcome you wish for, the products used can be easily dissolved.

Post-treatment instructions to adhere to for the best results are: -
Stay hydrated – Derma filler is a powerful humectant, meaning it acts like a magnet attracting water to the skin. It can bind up to 10,000 times its own weight in water so staying hydrated benefits the areas treated, as well as helping to give you glowing, plump skin.
Avoid Makeup – We recommend avoiding makeup application for a minimum of 8-hours post treatment. Do not apply makeup with any makeup applicators, especially if they are not clean, on post injected areas.
Keep the area clean - We recommend using warm water only and a gentle cleanser to clean the face and neck area for around 72 post treatment. Dry gently by patting the area dry rather than rubbing. Always ensure your hands, and towels are clean when using on treated areas.
Healing – To ensure the proper healing we recommend: -
- Using an antioxidant serum, which can help reduce irritation and smooth the skin.
- Do not use active skincare such as Retinol, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Vitamin C for at least 3 days post-treatment.
- Avoid medications that could interfere with the healing process.
- Witch hazel and arnica tablets/cream can help any bruising.
- No swimming for 24-hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 – 48 hours.
- No alcohol consumption on the day of treatment.
- Do not lie face down following treatment, remain sitting up for a minimum of 4 hours post treatment.
- Do not use ibuprofen for 2-weeks post treatment.
- Avoid touching the areas for 6-hours.
- Avoid heat (hot showers, bath, drinks & sun).
